As the year 2020 drew to a close, the carpooling and ridesharing sector saw various trends across key players in the United States. Sensor Tower provides a closer look into the performance of the top apps in this category.

Uber - Request a ride experienced a fluctuating trend in downloads, starting the quarter with approximately 256K downloads and finishing with a notable increase to around 336K. Weekly active users for the app also saw an upward trend, starting at 6.9M and achieving a peak of 8M by the end of December.

Lyft showed a similar pattern, with downloads beginning at 228K and concluding the quarter at a significantly higher 278K. The app's weekly active users saw a decline mid-quarter but recovered by the end, moving from 3.7M to 3.5M active users.

The Uber - Driver: Drive & Deliver app downloads remained relatively stable with a slight increase from around 70K to 81K by the year's end. Weekly active users experienced minor fluctuations, with a starting figure of 1.7M, dipping to 1.5M in November, and slightly recovering to approximately 1.5M.

Lyft Driver downloads showed a steady trend, starting at 28K and ending the quarter with an increase to around 35K. The app’s weekly active users experienced small variations, initially at 617K and ending the quarter slightly lower at 587K.

Bolt: Request a Ride, while smaller in comparison to its competitors, also saw a positive trend in downloads, starting at about 16K and ending the quarter at 27K. Weekly active users grew from 18K to just over 32K, showing consistent growth throughout the quarter.
